A price tag is just a label that shows what a product costs - usually next to its name and a scannable barcode so it rings up correctly at the till. Because your prices already live in Shopify, you don't need a separate design tool or a spreadsheet: LabelCraft prints price tags and shelf-edge labels directly from your products, pulling the price, name, SKU and barcode from each variant. This guide shows how.

What counts as a price tag or shelf label?

“Price tag” covers a few related label types, and LabelCraft prints all of them from the same product data:

Product price tags - a small sticker or hang tag on the item itself, showing the name, price and a barcode the cashier scans.
Shelf-edge labels - the strip that sits on the shelf in front of the product, with the price in large type and often a barcode for restocking.
Boutique / hang tags - a folded or punched tag for apparel and gifts, where the product name and price lead and the barcode is secondary.

Before you start

Products in Shopify with a price on each variant. LabelCraft reads the price directly from Shopify, so the tag always matches your store.
A printer - a label printer (Dymo, Zebra, Brother, Rollo) for single tags, or an office printer with Avery sheet labels for a whole page at once.
Optionally a barcode on each variant so the tag scans at the till. If your variants have none yet, generate them first (see the related guides).

Step by step: print price tags from Shopify

Open LabelCraft from your Shopify admin and go to Step 1 - Select Products. Add the products you want to tag.
In Step 2 - Set Quantities, choose how many of each tag to print - one per item, or pull live stock counts with “From inventory” for a full shelf reset.
In Step 3 - Print, pick a template. The built-in templates already show the product name, price, SKU and barcode - no design needed.
Check the live preview. Each tag shows that variant's real price from Shopify, in your store currency.
Click Generate PDF (or generate ZPL for a Zebra / Rollo printer - push it straight there with PrintNode set up).
Print at 100% / actual size - never “Fit to page” - so the tag and its barcode come out at the exact size they were designed for.

What goes on the tag - and where the price comes from

A retail price tag usually carries four things, and LabelCraft fills each one from the product automatically:

Price - pulled from the variant's price in Shopify and formatted in your store currency (e.g. $12.99). Change the price in Shopify and the next print is correct - you never retype it.
Product name - the product title, so staff and customers can tell tags apart at a glance.
Barcode - a scannable EAN-13, UPC-A or Code 128 from the variant's barcode field, so the tag rings up the right item and price at the till.
SKU - your internal code, handy for restocking and stock-takes.

Picking a size: shelf labels vs product tags

There is no single “price tag size” - pick by where the tag goes. A few common choices:

Small product tags - around 25×25 mm to 38×25 mm, enough for a price, short name and a small barcode on the item itself.
Shelf-edge strips - wider and shorter (e.g. 50×30 mm or larger), with the price in big type so it reads from a step back.
Hang / boutique tags - a taller tag for apparel, where the product name and price lead and the barcode is secondary.

Always print at 100% (actual size)

The single most common cause of a tag that will not scan is a printer scaling the page. “Fit to page”, “Shrink to fit” or the wrong paper size all change the barcode's width, and a resized barcode stops scanning. When prices change, reprint - don't relabel by hand

Because the price comes from Shopify, keeping tags current is just a reprint: update the price on the product, reselect it in LabelCraft, and print a fresh tag.
